This shit keeps me awake at night as well.

Yesterday I stumbled into a conversation with a covidian.... It didn't go well. I was inquiring about the level of his computer skills which I'm in need of. He thought I was asking about breaking into someone's account which is not the case. I indicated it's for a potential project to acquisition and manipulate large data sets. I sensed he was out off when I mentioned the data sets are related to death certificates and COVID shots and point blank told him his emotions betrayed him. I said "you think I'm crazy don't you"? He denied this of course trying to portray himself as neutral and non-judgemental on the matter but I knew better. Then I realized I'd no idea if he'd taken the "vaccine" and asked. Of course he had. I went no further and we politely went about our day.
I'm struck most by the propensity for these folks, victims that don't know they're victims who I can guarantee know someone who's been a victim, to turtle. Instead of righteous murderous rage as I feel they can't even manage a proper fight or flight response. Rather they stick their heads in the sand like ostriches.
Why exactly is it easier to deceive thank to convince one they've been deceived?
I’m sorry you had that challenging encounter with a Covidian (maybe reading my “Letter to a Covidian” will make you feel better ;-)
Why is the great question, indeed. There are layers upon layers of reasons, but I think at the core it is pride. They’d rather sacrifice their lives than admit they were so badly fooled.
You deem anything that falls beyond the margins of the approved narrative “misinformation,” “conspiracy theories,” and “fake news.”
Except when Trump used the term "fake news" to describe the "fake news"... Then it wasn't "fake news" or was it Trump that was "fake news"... I'm so confused!
