Some are retired and connot pay all the substackers we would like to subscribe to but we still want to be there with you when the building comes tumbling down. It will probably take several more years (not months like some hope) and we may never see it happen. But we still have to go on living our lives. We can not unhear and unsee and undo what has happened. But we live. Lots cannot say that anymore. Keep that in mind, as long as there is life, there is hope!

I'm against infighting but I'm pro-criticism. As a Free Software enthusiast, I'm part of a community where very minor (or even inane) differences are very often nit-picked in ways that aren't always very thoughtful. What's important to understand is that there are very real reasons for these criticisms. For instance there are people who will criticize you for linking to a website behind cloudflare (which is well...almost all of them). This may seem like an unattainable standard, but it's worth striving for if you understand the problem that person is trying to solve.
Throughout my life, I have learned the benefit of taking constructive criticism and have learned to separate the substance from the presentation. Which is why I'm suspicious-by-default of people, institutions, or forces that are themselves above criticism. One way to deflect serious criticism is to lump it in with the background noise of trolling, venting, and low-effort attacks. Part of the problem is that the diversity of people that have come together to confront current day evils mean that there are real differences in priorities, perspective, and politics.
I think this piece does a great job at outlining how this has unfolded.
I have written before, and still believe that I will stand with anyone who I believe is sincerely focused on the problem that accepts criticism with integrity.
