Is there a way to send money to you that is not credit card or check? (you can probably guess why...) I so appreciate your work, and love your heart~ And now you have even helped me on the path to, hopefully, being free of my own back pain that I know is being caused by so much repressed anger and stress, especially from the past 4 years. I hope the subscriptions pour in and ease your mind. Thank you for your dedication to the truth. I pray that it prevails~
Thank you so much for your moving comment, Michele. I am so sorry you have been afflicted by back pain, and I dearly hope you benefit from the information I’ve shared! I am still far from pain-free, but so many people have attested to the efficacy of Sarno’s TMS program that I figured it’s worth a shot. He says it generally takes 4–8 weeks for the average participant to rewire the brain. This includes dedicated study of the principles outlined in his books for at least half an hour a day. I have been playing his audiobooks while trying to sleep or when I am in too much pain to do anything else. “The Divided Mind” is probably the best one to focus on since it is more recent and includes later research as well as pragmatic steps to take. I wish I could say I were pain-free, but I am making progress so remain hopeful I am on the path to recovery, finally!
That is so generous of you to ask about an alternative way to make a donation, Michele. I sent you a DM to discuss options in case one of those works for you 🙏
also backed up by Norman Doidge ( either " the brains way of healing" or " the brain that changes itself", one of the chapters is a nurse who had someone exceptionally heavy fall on her whilst lifting, and suffered collapsed and herniated discs and years only sitting with chronic pain, unable to work or do much). The way out was very similar and she is pain free. I highly recommend those 2 books by Norman Doidge. there are other chapters on si.ilar, and the extraordinary interventions that helped ( eg mirrors with phantom limb pain, tight clothing with eating disorders/ body dysmorphia, walking curing parkinsons, and many more ( there was another re crippling back pain and spinal injury, a very active and lively doc, who from memory brought his findings to the nurse mentioned earlier)
*i realise I didn't say how- basically the " pain" was taking over more real estate in the brain, and this doc had slowly, patiently retrained his brain every time the sensation came up... and taught the nurse to do the same.
Your unselfish promotion of other writers and creators makes me really, really glad that I am able to support you financially, MAA. Courage and cool in the face of tyranny and power...way to go!
I love your mind and writing. Your words are like gold to me. So brave, thoughtful and thought provoking. I'm surprised you only have 40 k subscribers. I plan on renewing when my annual subscription is up. Please take care of yourself.
I sent you 5 coffees, and then I saw all the other folks that sent you 5 coffees. You are going to be hopped up like a spider monkey on crack. Feel better madame.
Strangely -in a not so subtle attempt at one upmanship--I have just written my 4 year "celebratory" article ,about to be published by Principia Scientific International. I attempt a triangulation of what I said 4 years ago, with what was known at the time and thirdly what is known now .
My substack is on sabatical while I a) bring to completion a book manuscript I've been working on for years and b) have a bit of a re-orientation on where I want the 'stack to go next.
This vision of 'having most of your stars out' is wonderful, and a great affirmation to add to the pot as I strive to keep inspiration and expression high! Really wonderful. And memorable.
Congratulations on 40K and cheers for many more to come!
I can't speak for anyone else, but I can definitely say the last three years went far too fast and I feel like I'm only beginning to get my own bearings. Lots of work to do, but thank you so much for choosing to be an inspirational voice that has been sorely needed.
I'm very sorry to hear about lingering pain and really hope it leaves you very soon!
Very grateful for our own collaborations, reach out if you ever need anything!
This is beautiful, Margaret, and I love having all our stars out. Great Salinger quote and history, that I hadn't known. And Mary Oliver, that's one of my favorite phrases of hers.
What a hard journey this is with the back pain. I'm so sorry you're going through that and financial worries too. Congratulations on the 40,000 (whoo-hoo!) and Stackiversary. I hope this next phase brings you peace and comfort. Or at least comfortable.
I believe that is a limitation Substack has been working on rectifying. Are you able to access Substack on your computer in your browser rather than the app? You should be able to manage your subscription that way if so.
If you would like to make a one-time donation (which I greatly appreciate!), the best option is to use either Ko-fi (no fee) or Buy Me a Coffee:
If you need an option that doesn’t require a credit or debit card, let me know, and I can give you our PO box, although it’s less desirable because we hardly ever get there, especially right now with my back challenges.

😆 😂🤣
Amen, sister! Happy Stakerversary and am I ever so happy to have found you here. As a fellow writer and as a friend. The community you have built is well deserved and made up of quite the Karass! Here’s to more years of licking ass!
Sure do hope your body listens to your brain and stops this pain nonsense. 🤗
Dear Margaret Anna Alice, I've followed your writing for maybe a year now. I have always been touched by your humanity, compassion and wisdom. I never considered that your prolific output was produced by a person in pain. Reading about your self-treatments, therapies, medications and mentality adjustments resonates with my experience of five years since my back injury affecting my spinal nerves. I have been in pain every single day since. You have my deepest empathy, an empathy that, for some reason (maybe a lifetime of self-abnegation) that I cannot give to myself.
Congrats, MAA! Your growing subscribers are so well deserved. You have been, are, and I trust will continue to be a beacon of light and knowledge for many. May the courage, integrity, and intelligence - just a few of your attributes - that are so needed, continue to ripple out into our world. Thank you, sincerely, for your voice.

Oh my goodness, One lone voice. I treasure *your* words and sacred presence here.
Congrats! I'm a new subscriber. Looking forward to your work.
Delighted to welcome you, CK Steefel, and I’m happy to see you are contributing some desperately needed humor to illuminate this dark age!
We need giggles.

The 'cheng' concept is very beautiful too.
Congratulations on your well-earned 40,000!

Thank you for your thoughtful note, Michael. Congratulations on your book in progress, and I’m so glad you resonated with those concepts!

Love you Margret Anna Alice!
Thank you.
So positive. And so awesome.
Can someone please explain why we cannot manage our subscription through the Substack app? Or let me just echo Michele’s question otherwise….
