The entire affair showed us the real person in our families and associates. Some rose to the occasion and acted with courage and integrity. Another allegory for the current state of affairs would be a mansion full of orphans and servants looking out for them till they come of age and inherit the fortune their late parents left. But the greedy, dishonest servants/guardians have spent it all. The heirs are growing up and the guardians are afraid of repercussions. So, they have secretly hired a bunch of clever, ruthless thieves to poison their charges and arrange accidents till they're all gone. In exchange the thieves can have the mansion for free once the annoying kids are all dead.
This is not a dystopia but more of a V.C. Andrews type Gothic thriller.

I often think, that's not really a happy ending for them because unless they are going to do all the grunt work that makes this world go round, you know the stuff us "useful idiots" do for them, they won't be too happy. They will have to mow their own lawns, cook their own meals, teach their own children, run their own machines, clean their own toilets, put out and collect their own trash, make their own appointments, paint their own homes and make their own art, (shout out to you, Margaret) and on and on. Unless they are going to be outfitted with a bunch of live-in robots, they will find themselves needing to do all "the work themselves." So while they may "think" they don't need us, and even if they have live-in robots, they are still going to need someone to do the repairs.
