I found the book a bit of a slog, with annotations sometimes being more interesting than the main text ... but the plusses still outweighed the minuses in opening me up the correlation between concentrations of economic / political influence and psychopathy.
Although we both understand the value of original sources, Harrison Koehli's Ponerology Substack covers some really good contemporary researchers that I find even more readable and relatable. If it weren't for the time lag between Japan and his zoom meetings, I'd love to join in and share my experience with Japanese 'dark triads'. There is a good reason why Reporters Without Borders consistently ranks Japan's 'Freedom of Press' as mid-pack at best. 🧐

pretty sure since nothing in the content matched the warning message that this situation was deliberately initiated by a human rather than algorithmic "protection."
I did subcontracted Google search result rating from 2019 to 2022 for slightly over Missouri's minimum wage. it started as rating high for results which would directly meet the user's needs. a little into the scamdemic that metric's importance was greatly reduced in favor of "authoritative" "agrees with government, industry, and 'expert' positions" and "not from 'misinformation' URLs specifically including substack."
I got reduced evaluations for nerfing their results by using the original standards and refusing to mark unapproved sites as toxic. eventually I couldn't rate many results because their new standards were too low to not make me want to vomit, and had to quit.
I got no such message from google....I do use google but my mail is Apple/Safari as the browser. Would that be why I got no message of scam with the email?

I web interface everything I can instead of apps. the exceptions are things I'm forced to do business through with apps only.
I mentioned in my first comment that the mobile web interface flagged the email and wouldn't let me click anything (I didn't test the unsub link, I'm sure they'd have allowed that one,) but the desktop web interface allowed me to override the flag and then everything acted normal in both interfaces.

That's exactly what happened over a year ago when Google AI-erased all links to my Substack articles across all searches. Almost all hide engines draw their results from Google (including the purportedly independent Brave), so thousands of relevant links disappeared in one fell swoop. Duck Duck Go was the only one returning relevant results—until last February, when I caught it in the act of mass-deleting all links to my Substack. See this Note for more details:
Yandex is what I’ve been using since it’s the only one that passes the MAA litmus test but is still not great.
While Brave is bringing up results for my name, notice not a single one is for my Substack or any of my articles. This is exactly the pattern I identified at Google and every search engine I checked after I discovered that erasure last year. They include my Substack profile in some cases but not my actual Substack or any articles.
My Substack used to rank first for searches like “philanthropath,” “Mistakes Were NOT Made,” and any of my article titles. Now, if you search “philanthropath” at Brave, for example, you will see my Substack does not appear in the first page of results, even though my three-article series used to dominate the rankings:
The clearest indicator of shenanigans in this case is that the fourth result at Brave is a plagiarization of my “Anatomy of a Philanthropath” poem by a Substacker named Mark Hopkins published on January 11, 2024 (my original series was published on June 24, 2022, and used to rank first because it was the first use of that term).
The post has 3 likes as opposed to the 389 likes, 158 comments, and 66 restacks on my first article in the series. His plagiarized post only has 1 comment—mine pointing out that he plagiarized my poem. Mark has 63 subscribers; I have nearly 45k.
This is the inverse of relevant results and is why I have taken to calling these hide engines.
your main substack page is the 4th result under that search link I posted... at least, on my device.
philanthropath alone does bring up the plagiarized link among other non-substack references to your article. adding your name first, your substack article is the 9th result with two higher substack results from other authors linking to yours.
even before the scamdemic, I had to tweak searches carefully by not only choosing the right keywords but the order they go in, and nowadays that's even more of a requirement to get anything decent out of the engines.
I rarely use yandex anymore due to the israhell connection. sometimes it'll show things that US government blocks on other engines but it's nowhere near as useful as it was six years ago.
I am so glad you did that because that is actually a huge change just in the last week or two. For over a year, typing the title of any of my articles returned zero results at my Substack. I wonder if it's only showing up briefly because it was just published and hasn't been disappeared yet?
